On January 8, 2020, a Boeing 737-800 of Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) crashed during a flight from Tehran to Kyiv. As a result of this tragedy, all 176 people on board, representatives of different countries, died. At first, Iran suggested that the plane had technical malfunctions, but later admitted that it was the result of an inadvertent shelling by the Iranian military.
