Volodymyr Ivasyuk was born on March 4, 1949, in the town of Kitsman, Chernivtsi region. He is a Ukrainian poet, composer and performer, musician, and master of several musical instruments: violin, piano, cello, and guitar. He was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine posthumously in 2009.
Volodymyr Ivasyuk is one of the founders of Ukrainian pop music. He is the author of 107 songs, 53 instrumental pieces, and music for several performances. In the 70s, the musician presented
two of his most famous songs: "Chervona Ruta" and "Vodohrai".
On May 18, 1979, he was found hanged in the Bryukhovychi forest near Lviv. The version of suicide was questioned and investigated further in the years of independence.
