For reference: In 2019, the film Forbidden was released about the Ukrainian poet and dissident Vasyl Stus. The film was shot in 2018-2019. During the filming, the title of the movie changed several times: first, it was called Bird of the Soul, then Stus, and finally Forbidden. In the process of filming the movie, an episode from the last trial of Vasyl Stus, where Viktor Medvedchuk was his lawyer, was removed from the script. The fact that this episode was deleted was perceived negatively by the society.

Reference: Stepan Shkurat is a Ukrainian actor, known for his roles in classic Soviet films. Also important stages of his career are the role of Mykola in the opera "Natalka-Poltavka" (1936) and Yavtukha in the film "Viy" (1967).

Ukrainian cinema: challenges and prospects

Documentary film “Kruty” produced by the Khmelnytskyi Regional State Television and Radio Company “Podillia-Center”.

It tells about the Battle of Kruty on January 29, 1918, and contains fragments of a historical reconstruction of the battle.

Kyiv, April 14, 2009. David Lynch arrives in Ukraine. 

Video: airport, Lynch comes out surrounded by people with flowers, enters the assembly hall of Karpenko-Kary University to applause, speaks from the stage, the audience gives a standing ovation, David Lynch enters a press conference, shows his book, signs autographs, Lynch at the book presentation, gets out of a minibus, is met by girls in Ukrainian national costumes, press conference at the airport. 

Reference: David Lynch is an American film director, musician, artist and actor. His films are characterized by elements of surrealism, an atmosphere of horror and delirium, strange and repulsive images and original music.

He received Oscar nominations for Best Director for The Elephant Man (1980), Blue Velvet (1986) and Mulholland Drive (2001). His film Wild at Heart (1990) won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Other well-known films include Dune (1984), Lost Highway (1997) and Inland Empire (2006). He is one of the creators of the Twin Peaks series. Lynch has received numerous awards, including the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement in 2006 and an honorary Academy Award in 2019.

In February 2022, after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, Lynch expressed support for the Ukrainian people and condemned the aggressor country.

The plot is dedicated to the first festival of documentary historical cinema at the Kyiv Fortress Museum.

Directors Taras Tkachenko, Serhiy Sotnychenko, Ivan Kanivets, Oleksandr Dombrovsky and other Ukrainian artists presented their films. The video contains fragments of Konstantin Shandybin’s films “Yuriy Khmelnytskyi” and Taras Tkachenko’s docudrama “Kobzar: The Story of a Book”.
