Kyiv, October 19, 2004. President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma awards Paralympic athletes who have returned from the 2004 Summer Paralympic Games in Greece.

The 2004 Summer Paralympic Games were held in Athens from September 17 to 28. Ukrainian athletes won 55 medals - 24 gold, 12 silver and 19 bronze. The team was represented by 88 athletes in 9 sports. Ukraine took sixth place in the team standings.

Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, 1994. This Olympics was the first in which the team of independent Ukraine participated. The team was represented by 37 athletes in 10 sports and won one gold and one bronze medal.
