Reference: On June 14, 2014, near Luhansk, pro-Russian militants shot down a Ukrainian military transport aircraft IL-76 from an anti-aircraft missile system. It was landing under the blockade of the airport. All 49 people on board were killed - 40 paratroopers of the 25th Brigade and 9 crew members. Reference: On April 13, 2025, the Russian army launched a missile attack on the center of Sumy, killing 35 people. Eighth-grader Kirill Ilyashenko, a student of Sumy School No. 4, was traveling with his mother to visit his grandmother when he was hit by a missile. The young man oriented himself in the situation, jumped out the window of the mangled bus and opened the door, saving his mother and the passengers who survived the explosion. Kirill himself was wounded by three pieces of shrapnel in the head and underwent surgery. He received the presidential award “The Future of Ukraine”.

Reference: On April 24, at night, Russians attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles and drones. Destruction was recorded in five districts of the capital. The largest was in Sviatoshynskyi district. In the evening, rescuers pulled the bodies of four dead people, including a 17-year-old teenager, from the rubble of a house. Search and rescue operations in Sviatoshynskyi district were completed the next morning. People brought flowers and toys in memory of the victims.

On April 28, it became known that the death toll had risen to 13 people. A 45-year-old man died in the hospital from burns as a result of the Russian strike. 90 people were injured, including 12 children under the age of 18. 106 buildings were damaged, including 84 residential buildings.

Ninety-four people sought medical assistance, including 71 adults and 23 children, and as of the morning of March 25, 101 injured people were known to have been injured. 

Twenty-six buildings of various purposes and forms of ownership were damaged, including three schools, a kindergarten, a vocational school, an interschool training and production facility, a hospital, 16 residential buildings, a restaurant and entertainment complex, a service station, and an administrative building of a company. In total, more than 3,000 windows were smashed and roofs in eight apartment buildings and four private houses were damaged. The roofs of four apartment buildings need major repairs. Nineteen people were killed, including nine children. More than 70 residents were injured.
