Background: On the night of February 7, Russia struck the Dobrotvir Thermal Power Plant in Lviv Oblast. An air raid alert was declared in Lviv Oblast at 3:13 a.m. Initially, a missile strike threat was reported; later, information emerged about a threat from attack drones. As a result of this shelling, residential buildings in the village of Staryi Dobrotvir were damaged. Eighteen houses were partially damaged, and one was completely destroyed.

Rivne, February 2026. Background: On February 7, 2026, Rivne and the surrounding region came under a massive missile and drone attack by the Russian Federation. Hits were recorded on an apartment building, and damage was caused to residential buildings and critical infrastructure. One person was killed, and two were injured.

Chernihiv Oblast, February 5, 2026. A video of the return of Ukrainian prisoners of war: relatives await their loved ones’ release from captivity, photos, and posters bearing the faces of the missing; Ivan Roman—the father of a man released from captivity—speaks about his son, weeps and prays, calls his family, and shares the joyful news; an ambulance arrives; a released prisoner talks to a woman about her missing relative; an interview with Oleksandr Trukhan, who was returned from captivity and is now waiting for his released comrade; dusk, a bus arrives with the released prisoners, relatives chant “Welcome!”, rejoice, hug, and talk.

Background: On February 5, 2026, 150 Ukrainian military personnel and 7 civilians were returned to Ukraine from Russian captivity. Most of the Ukrainian soldiers had been held captive since 2022. More than half of the freed defenders were taken prisoner during the defense of Mariupol. 

Returning home are servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including representatives of the Navy, Army, Troops of Special Operations, Airborne Forces, Air Force, as well as the National Guard of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service. In addition to soldiers and sergeants, officers were also successfully freed. A National Guard servicemember, who was taken captive during the seizure of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, is also returning home. The freed servicemembers defended the country in the Luhansk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Sumy, and Kyiv regions. 

The youngest released soldier is 23 years old. He was taken prisoner at the age of 19 during the defense of Mariupol. A Russian court illegally sentenced him to “life imprisonment.” The oldest released soldier is 63 years old.

Dnipro, 2025. A video interview with Vasyl Fedorenko, chaplain of the 23rd Coast Guard Detachment. He carried out combat missions and continued his spiritual ministry during the defense of Mariupol and Azovstal. He spent over three years in Russian captivity. Upon his return, he became a priest.

Fastiv, Kyiv Oblast, December 6, 2025. The video shows the aftermath of the shelling: a bombed-out train station, destroyed structures, burned-out trains in the depot, rising smoke, fire trucks, and a damaged underground passage. Interviews: Viktoria Ruban — spokesperson for the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kyiv Oblast; Oleksandr Pertsovskyi — chairman of the board of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”; Mykola Kalashnyk — head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration. 

Background: On the night of Saturday, December 6, the Russian army struck the Fastiv railway station in the Kyiv region. The station building was almost completely destroyed, and passenger locomotives were also damaged. Station employees were unharmed because they were in a shelter at the time of the strike.

Zaporizhzhia, February 7, 2026. A video of the funeral for 18-year-olds Sofia Osadcha and Stepan Shtyk, who were killed on February 3 as a result of enemy shelling: the funeral ceremony, loved ones carrying flowers and weeping. Interviews: Olga Slyshchenko—Sofia’s classmate, Ksenia Osadcha—Sofia’s sister, Matviy—Stepan’s friend.

Background: On February 3, Russian forces once again struck Zaporizhzhia with drones. The attack hit a crowded area. As a result of the shelling, 12 people were wounded, including three children: two boys aged 11 and 12 and a 16-year-old girl. Two people were killed. They were a couple, 18-year-old teenagers Sofia Osadcha and Stepan Shchyk.

Reference: On the night of December 31, the Russian army attacked Odessa with strike drones. Two high-rise buildings were hit, and apartments in one of them caught fire. Six people are known to have been injured, including three children aged between seven months and 14 years.

The city has partially lost electricity, water, and heat.

Reference: On the morning of November 19, Russia attacked Ternopil with drones and missiles. The first explosions were heard around 6:30 a.m. Smoke appeared over one of the city's neighborhoods. Several residential buildings were destroyed as a result of the shelling. On the first day of the search and rescue operation, 26 people were found dead at the site of the Russian strikes. The death toll later rose to 36.
