The village of Novoozeryanka in the Zhytomyr region

Channel "Zhytomyr", 2007. The program "Through Thorns to the Stars" is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Ukrainian scientist and designer Sergei Korolev, his path in science and the peculiarities of recognition in Soviet times.

Reference: Sergei Pavlovich Korolev (1907–1966) was a Ukrainian scientist and designer, a native of Zhytomyr, known as the ‘father of practical cosmonautics’. He headed the Soviet space programme, organised the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite (1957) and the first human flight into space (1961). Although his achievements were appropriated by Soviet and Russian history, Korolev was Ukrainian by origin and upbringing.

To the 100th anniversary of Sergei Korolev

The plot is dedicated to the history of Ovruch, one of the oldest cities of Zhytomyr Oblast. It tells about the foundation and historical development of the city, the history of St. Basil's Church and the Transfiguration Cathedral. Monuments to Prince Oleg Svyatoslavovich, Jan Nalepka and Oleksandr Saburov, city streets and historical buildings, including the Tsalka House, are shown. The plot also presents the Small Academy of Folk Arts and Crafts, the Ovrutsk Gymnasium named after Andrii Malyshko and a memorial plaque to the poet.

Zhytomyr, 2006. "Zhytomyr region invites"

A 2004 segment from the program “Your Health” covers the opening of the Dialysis Center at the Zhytomyr Regional Hospital. The facility provides new equipment for patients who require dialysis. The center was funded by the state budget and with support from local business leaders.

Dialysis Center in Zhytomyr Oblast

The video shows the Grokholsky-Tereshchenko estate in the neo-Gothic style. The estate's territory, architectural decoration, neglect, boarded-up windows, archival photographs, exhibits. Commentary by local historian Taras Konovalov.

Reference: The Grokholskys are a Polish count family. Magnate Adolf Grokholsky bought these lands, founded a park here, and completely built the castle itself in 1851. Initially, it was his residence.

The Tereshchenkos are a world-famous dynasty of Ukrainian sugar manufacturers, industrialists, and philanthropists. After the death of Adolf Grokholsky, the estate passed to his second wife, who later sold Chervone and the surrounding lands to Mykola Artemiyovych Tereshchenko. His family owned the palace until the 1917 revolution.
