Reference: Mykola Rudenko is a Ukrainian writer and philosopher, Hero of Ukraine, co-founder and first head of the Ukrainian Helsinki Group, one of the leading figures of the human rights movement in the Ukrainian SSR. In 1977, he was sentenced to 7 years in camps and 5 years in exile for "anti-Soviet agitation and propaganda", his works were confiscated from libraries. Since 1987, he has been released and rehabilitated, and has worked in exile.
