Reference: Yuriy Kostenko is a Ukrainian politician of national-democratic orientation, long-time leader of the Ukrainian People's Movement and Chairman of the Ukrainian People's Party. In the 1990s-2000s, he consistently defended the pro-European course of Ukraine, issues of ecological and nuclear safety, headed government structures related to environmental protection and nuclear policy. Author of a fundamental work on the history of nuclear disarmament of Ukraine, in which he emphasizes the strengthening of national security and the need for an independent foreign policy.
