Reference: Bohdan Kotyk (1936–1991) was the head of the Lviv City Executive Committee and a member of the first democratic convocation of the Ukrainian Parliament. As head of the Lviv City Council Executive Committee during the Soviet era (1989–1990), he took a pro-Ukrainian patriotic stance. On his initiative, the Lenin monument in Lviv was dismantled. Bohdan Kotyk also contributed to the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church coming out of hiding, supported the organization of a demonstration in 1989 on the anniversary of the occupation of Galicia by Soviet troops, and initiated the production of goods needed by the people at Lviv enterprises. He died suddenly of a heart attack.
