2007, National Television Company of Ukraine. The documentary film ‘Shchedryk, Shchedryk...’ is dedicated to the outstanding Ukrainian composer, conductor, and teacher Mykola Leontovych.

The video features: opening credits, stories about the composer, the Kamianets-Podilskyi Theological Seminary, photographs of Leontovych, fragments of newsreels, People's Artist of Ukraine Yevhen Svaichuk at choir rehearsals (performing works arranged by M. Leontovych).

The following individuals discuss the composer, his life story and tragic death, his sources of creative inspiration, and the life paths that led him to music: Doctor of Philosophy Valentina Kuzyk; poet Ivan Drach; Professor Anatoliy Zavalnyuk; and folklorist Hanna Koval.

Reference: Mykola Leontovych (1877–1921) was a Ukrainian composer, choir conductor, teacher, and author of the world-famous ‘Shchedryk.’ A master of choral arrangements, he was one of the founders of the national music school. He was killed on the night of 23 January 1921 in the village of Markivka by Afanasy Gryschenko, an agent of the Cheka (All-Russian Extraordinary Commission).
