The Taras Shevchenko National Prize celebrates its 40th anniversary

The video features: opening credits, stand-up by author Teodozia Zarivna, a meeting of Shevchenko Prize winners from different years at the National Philharmonic, black-and-white footage of the first award ceremony in 1962, video footage of the award winners, President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma awarding the Shevchenko Prize winners in the White Hall of the Mariinsky Palace, an excerpt from the feature film ‘Babylon XX’, footage of committee meetings, an exhibition of the laureates' works, the reference book ‘Shevchenko Laureates 1962-2001’, and celebrations of Shevchenko Days at the Taras Shevchenko monument in Kaniv. The history of the award is recounted by the chairman of the Shevchenko Committee, Ivan Dziuba (1999-2005).
