On August 23, 1975, the first stage of the Kholodnohirsko-Zavodskaya line, almost 10 km long with eight stations from "Sverdlova Street" (now "Kholodna Hora") to "Moskovsky Prospekt" (now "Turboatom"), was put into operation. In 1976–1978, work continued on further extending the line in an easterly direction towards large industrial zones, which was to provide a more efficient connection of residential areas with the city's industrial enterprises.
