Reference: Karel Jakubek is a Ukrainian painter, one of the representatives of the Baia-Mara (Baiamar) school of painting, which was formed in the Central European artistic space. His studies at the Free Academy of Arts in Baia Mare, as well as his studies in the circle of Josip Bokshai and Adalbert Erdeli, determined his orientation towards plein air painting, tonal culture and restrained colorism. Since 1964, he worked in Lutsk, where he played a leading role in the formation of the professional artistic environment of Volyn, heading the local section of the Union of Artists and working as the city's chief artist; he worked mainly in the genres of landscape, portrait and still life in the technique of oil painting.
