2009, National Television Company of Ukraine. The documentary film ‘Free Cossacks’ is dedicated to the People's Militia, formed in 1917. Film one.

The video includes opening credits, newsreel footage, excerpts from feature films, and archival film and photographic documents. The film is divided into sections: ‘Cossack Treasures,’ ‘On the Maidan. Around the Church,’ ‘How It Began,’ and ‘The Will of the People.’

Reference: On 5 February 1918, at a meeting of the Council of People's Ministers of the Ukrainian People's Republic in Kyiv, a plan was adopted to organise the registered ‘Free Cossacks’ — an attempt to regulate and legalise the existing Cossack formations as a regular state military structure of the Ukrainian People's Republic. This plan was not fully implemented due to military operations and the advance of Bolshevik troops.
