Reference: Omelyan Kovch is a Ukrainian Greek Catholic priest, chaplain of the Ukrainian Galician Army, pastor in Przemysljany, who saved Jews during the Nazi occupation, issuing them baptismal certificates. For this he was arrested by the Gestapo and imprisoned in the Majdanek concentration camp, where he continued his priestly ministry and died on March 25, 1944. Beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2001, since 2009 he is the patron saint of pastors of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
