Reference: In 2003, the state border protection system of Ukraine was reorganized: the State Border Service of Ukraine was created on the basis of the border troops and the corresponding state committee. It replaced the military management model with a more civilian law enforcement structure. Since then, the State Border Service of Ukraine has been responsible for protecting the state border and controlling the border zones of Ukraine.
