Reference: Shmuel Yosef Agnon is a Jewish writer of Galician origin, one of the leading representatives of Jewish literature of the 20th century. Laureate of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1966, in his work he combines the traditions of Jewish religious culture with modern literary forms.
