Reference: On June 14, 2014, during the war in eastern Ukraine near Luhansk, an Il-76 military transport aircraft of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was shot down. As a result of the shelling by Russian militants from MANPADS during the landing approach, all 49 servicemen on board (9 crew members and 40 paratroopers of the 25th Separate Airborne Brigade) were killed.
After this tragedy, a trial began for negligence of duty against Ukrainian General Viktor Nazarov. In 2017, he was convicted, but in 2021, the Supreme Court of Ukraine overturned the verdict and closed the proceedings due to the lack of elements of a crime.
