A concert to mark the 70th anniversary of the Hryhoriy Veriovka National Choir and the 80th birthday of Anatoliy Avdiievsky, a choral conductor, composer and teacher.
Academician Anatolii Avdiievskyi has been leading the choir since 1965. The composer was born on August 16, 1933, in the village of Fedvar, Kirovohrad region (now Kropyvnytskyi).
He first introduced female academic voices to the folk choir, thus expanding its vocal capabilities. During his leadership, Anatolii Avdiievskyi and the choir traveled to more than 60 countries and gave more than a thousand concerts.
The Hryhoriy Veriovka Choir was founded in 1943 during World War II in Kharkiv. The founder and first director of the choir was Hryhoriy Veryovka, an outstanding composer and choral conductor. The first soloists of the choir were recruited from the front. Today, the choir consists of a choir, a dance group, and an orchestra.
