120th anniversary of the birth of Pavlo Tychyna

Pavlo Tychyna's literary-memorial museum-apartment on January 28, 2011. Celebration of the 120th anniversary of the poet and publicist.

Pavlo Tychyna was born on January 23, 1891, in the village of Pisky, Chernihiv region. In 1913 he graduated from the Chernihiv Theological Seminary. He moved to Kharkiv in 1923, and was a member of the Union of Proletarian Writers of Ukraine "Hart" and "VAPLYTE" (Free Academy of Proletarian Literature). He was a co-editor of the Red Way magazine and headed the Institute of Literature in 1936-1943.

During the Second World War, he was evacuated to Ufa as part of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR as director of the Taras Shevchenko Institute of Literature. He was Minister of Education of the Ukrainian SSR from 1943 to 1948.
He died on September 16, 1967 in Kyiv.
