Ataman Petro Kalnyshevsky: 315th Anniversary of Birth

Sumy Television. The program "Kalnyshevsky Council" from July 13, 2006 is dedicated to the 315th anniversary of the birth of the last kosh ataman of the Zaporozhian Sich Petro Kalnyshevsky.

Reference: Petro Kalnyshevsky is the last Cossack chieftain of the Zaporozhian Sich, a prominent figure of the Ukrainian Cossacks, a philanthropist and an Orthodox saint. Of particular importance is the Holy Trinity Church, founded with his funds in his native village of Pustoviytivka in Sumy Oblast, near which all-Ukrainian Cossack commemorations, the Kalnyshevsky Rada festival and events commemorating the chieftain's memory are held every year.
