Reference: The Carpathian Convention is an international agreement signed in 2003 at the initiative of Ukraine, aimed at protecting the natural environment and ensuring sustainable development of the Carpathian region by coordinating the policies of seven European states. For Ukraine, its implementation is of strategic importance in the field of biodiversity conservation, forest and water resources, development of mountain areas, sustainable tourism and adaptation to climate change, while requiring effective interstate cooperation and coordination of environmental, economic and social interests.
