Reference: Skalat Castle is a bastion-type defensive structure, built in 1630 in the town of Skalat in the Ternopil region to protect the southeastern border of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth from Tatar attacks. Despite significant destruction during the wars of the 17th and 20th centuries, the castle has preserved four corner towers. The castle is a monument of fortification architecture of Podillia, which is part of the National Reserve "Castles of Ternopil".
