History of book printing in Lviv, 1985

Lviv, November 22, 1985. Lviv Television Studio. "lviv" program. City of Books" about the history of book printing in Lviv from the 16th century to the 1980s. The broadcast is in Russian and contains elements of Soviet propaganda.

At the beginning of the program, it is about Lviv as a book city and the history of the printer Ivan Fedorov. It tells about Ivan Fedorov's "Primer" of 1574, its reprint edition, a memorial plaque to the printer and Ivan Fedorov Street are shown. How Zapasko talks about the study of Ivan Fedorov's activities in Lviv and Ostroh, the peculiarities of his graphics, the traditions of the Ukrainian handwritten book, the Lviv "Primer", scientific publications and new research. The process of restoration of old prints is shown.

Separately, it is told about the "Lviv Tablature of the 16th century." — handwritten collection of Renaissance music from 1555 from the funds of the Scientific Library of Ivan Franko Lviv State University. It is about the edition of the original and the transcription for string orchestra. The next part is dedicated to the Ivan Franko Literary Memorial Museum and the lifetime publication of the collection "Withered Leaves". Next, memorial tablets on the Town Hall building are shown and an underground communist typography is told. The work of the workshop is shown in the Atlas book factory. The final part is dedicated to Oleksandr Tvardovskyi's poem "Vasyl Tyorkin. A book about a fighter."
