March 31, 1987. Transcarpathian television studio. TV show "Faileton" based on the works of Transcarpathian writer Dmytro Kesheli.

The play tells the story of a village man, Pavel, who loses a cow in a fire. Firefighters do not have time to arrive on time and save the animal from the barn. Paul decides to describe this story in a feuilleton and a poem about his cow and turns to the newspaper's editorial office. In the editorial office, he tells about the event to the editor and a summer employee. The typist asks Pavel to put everything in her own words and tell what really happened. The man recalls the events in the village, talks about the burning of the barn and the reasons for the firefighters' delay.
