"Direct projection": how do artists turn everyday life into art?

October 11, 2013. Culture news. The plot from the exhibition "Direct Projection", which presents the works of five artists — Maryna Shkarupa, Igor Konovalov, Anatoly Varvarov, Igor Prokofiev and Eduard Potapenkov.

In the video: paintings by artists and their stories about creativity and artistic techniques. Ihor Prokofiev shows works with urban motifs inspired by old factories, industrial facilities and metal structures. Anatoly Varvarov talks about the social subtext of his paintings, and Igor Konovalov — about an unusual way of working when he applies paint to a canvas turned upside down. In the works of Maryna Shkarupa, bright images of tigers and comic donkeys appear, through which the artist humorously reinterprets everyday life. The exhibition combines different creative approaches and individual views on familiar things.
