Oleksandr Masyk was born on July 23, 1947 in Sumy region in the family of the Honored Artist of Ukraine Volodymyr Masyk. In 1957, he began his studies at the Republican Art School in Kyiv. He graduated from the Kyiv State Art Institute in 1972.
During his lifetime, he held two all-Union, 32 republican and 14 personal exhibitions in Ukraine, China, the USA, Bulgaria and Poland. He was a supporter of purely academic principles in painting.
He died in 2021.
