Stepan Khmara was born on October 12, 1937, in the village of Bobiatyn, Sokal district, Lviv region. He is a fighter for Ukraine's independence, one of the leaders of the Ukrainian Helsinki Union, and a member of the Ukrainian Parliament who supported the student Revolution on Granite. Stepan Khmara created and headed the Ukrainian Conservative Republican Party and participated in the Orange Revolution. He is a Hero of Ukraine.
