Ihor Yuhnovsky was a theoretical physicist, politician, and honorary citizen of Lviv. Hero of Ukraine. One of the authors of the referendum of December 1, 1991, which cemented Ukraine's independence. He headed the People's Council, which was in opposition to the communist majority of the first parliament.
