
On May 2, 2014, during a patriotic march of football fans of Chornomorets and Metalist, there was a conflict with pro-Russian activists.
The confrontation started in the center of Odesa and later moved to Kulykove Pole near the Trade Union Building, where separatists had been stationed for several months. As a result of the clashes, 48 people died and about 250 were injured.
