In 1967, Ivan Moisia received the Taras Shevchenko State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR for writing the epic novel Bohdan Khmelnytsky (1957-1965). The writer belongs to the category of Ukrainian Soviet writers whose works reflect communist and Soviet ideology.
