Note: The 1996 Summer Olympics were held in Atlanta (USA). Ukraine participated for the first time in its history. The team was represented by 231 athletes. They won 23 medals - 9 gold, 2 silver and 12 bronze.

We brought home the gold: Inessa Kravets - athletics; Wladimir Klitschko - boxing; Rustam Sharipov - gymnastics; Lilia Podkopaeva - two gold medals in gymnastics; Kateryna Serebryanska - gymnastics; Timur Taimazov - weightlifting; Viacheslav Oleynik - Greco-Roman wrestling; Yevhen Braslavets and Ihor Matvienko - sailing.
