Iryna Stasiv-Kalynets is a Ukrainian writer, poet, born on December 6, 1940 in Lviv. She studied at the philological faculty of the Ivan Franko University of Lviv. In 1972, she was arrested and sentenced to 6 years of imprisonment in strict regime camps and three years of exile for anti-Soviet agitation and propaganda. After her release, she actively participated in the public life of Lviv: she gave lectures about Vasyl Stus, participated in the creation of the Club of Young Scientists, the Lion Society, the Yevshan-Zillya group, the People's Movement of Ukraine, etc. She died in Lviv on July 31, 2012, after a long illness.
