The exhibition dedicated to the 160th anniversary of Ivan Franko's birth at the Museum of Books and Printing in Kyiv, August 5, 2016.

In the video: a portrait of Ivan Franko painted by Ivan Trush in 1903, the writer's autobiography, the poems “The Death of Cain” and “Moses,” as well as excerpts from the work on which Franko defended his dissertation. Reference: Ivan Franko was a Ukrainian writer, translator, playwright, scholar, and political activist. He was born on August 27, 1856, in the village of Nahuyevychi. He studied at a school at the Basilian monastery, Drohobych Gymnasium, and Lviv University. In 1876, he published his first poetry collection, Ballads and Stories.

After his arrest, he received a degree from Chernivtsi University and defended his dissertation at the University of Vienna. He co-founded the magazine “Public Friend” and the Russian-Ukrainian Radical Party. He was an active journalist and publicist, published in many Ukrainian, Polish, and Austrian magazines, and was a member of the Shevchenko Scientific Society.

On May 28, 1916, Ivan Franko died and was buried at Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv.
