Yevhen Sverstiuk: “That Volyn in me”

Lutsk, 2005. The protagonist of the film Ta Volyn in Me is a Ukrainian literary critic, essayist, poet, thinker, philosopher, member of the Sixties movement, and political prisoner Yevhen Sversiuk. He tells about his childhood, studies, life, and imprisonment in Soviet concentration camps.
The script was written by Sviatoslav Pyrozhko, directed by Natalia Luhova, cinematographer Vasyl Maryshchuk, editor Olha Kulish, sound engineer Andriy Zhirnov, and edited and computer graphics by Oleh Dyshko.
The film uses materials from Yevhen Sverstiuk's home photo and video archive and his book Prodigal Sons of Ukraine, as well as war newsreels. Songs based on the words of Yevhen Sverstiuk were performed by Olha Bohomolets and Olena Holub, as well as a piece by composer Myroslav Skoryk interpreted by musical instrument maker and violinist Volodymyr Kostiuk.
