Reference: Yuri Shamo is a music teacher, performing pianist, and composer. He studied at the Kyiv State Conservatory and later taught at the Kyiv Institute of Culture. He has written music for television films. He is the author of 10 symphonies, twelve piano sonatas, two piano concertos, and concertos for flute, violin, and cello. In 2000, he was named “Person of the Year” by the American Biographical Institute for his services to chamber music.
