Background: Petro Stolypin was the Prime Minister of the Russian Empire and a Russian nationalist who actively opposed national autonomy and introduced Stolypin's agrarian reform. His rule was accompanied by harsh repressions, which led to the appearance of such concepts as "Stolypin reaction", "Stolypin tie" (the gallows) and "Stolypin wagon" (wagon for transporting convicts).
