Reference: Yuriy-Bohdan Shukhevych is a Ukrainian public figure, political prisoner, chairman of the Ukrainian Inter-Party Assembly and the Ukrainian National Assembly (UNA), commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian National Self-Defense Forces (UNSO), son of UPA General Roman Shukhevych.
He was born on March 28, 1933 in the village of Oglyadove, Lviv Region. After the arrival of the Soviet troops, he was arrested and deported together with his mother to Siberia. Spent more than 30 years in Soviet prisons and pretrial detention centers, as well as 3 years in an orphanage for "enemies of the people". In 2014, he became a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
He died on November 22, 2022 at the age of 89.
