A film about the actor Oleksandr Serdiuk (Les Serdiuk Sr.). The film uses fragments of feature films from the USSR State Film Fund: “Koliivshchyna”, ‘Nazar Stodolya’, ‘Zaporozhets Beyond the Danube’. The main roles in these films were played by Oleksandr Serdiuk. Also used are fragments from the plays Yaroslav the Wise, 97, Why the Stars Smiled, and others staged by actors of the Kharkiv Academic Ukrainian Drama Theater named after Taras Shevchenko.

For reference: Oleksandr Serdiuk was a Ukrainian theater and film actor. For more than ten years he worked in Les Kurbas's Berezil Theater, and since 1934 he has been an actor at the Taras Shevchenko Kharkiv Drama Theater. Oleksandr Serdiuk's character Semen Nezhyvyi from the film Koliivshchyna became the prototype for the creation of the figure of Haydamak with a scythe and the figure of the One who breaks the chains in the ensemble of the Taras Shevchenko monument in Kharkiv.
