The film is about the world-famous scientist Borys Paton. The film uses black-and-white chronicles of Borys Paton's work and scientific developments during the Second World War; footage of Borys Paton's election as president of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1962; footage of welded structures underwater, experiments with welding in space; part of the Salyut orbital station.

Reference: Borys Paton (1918-2020) was an engineer, academician, and politician. He worked in the field of welding processes, metallurgy and metal technology. From 1953 to 2020, he was the director of the E. Paton Institute of Electric Welding, in 1962 he headed the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (later the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine) and was its president until his death. Borys Paton is a member of a number of domestic and foreign scientific organizations. He was awarded a number of state awards, including the title of Hero of Ukraine, the highest state honor, on November 26, 1998.
