Reference: Borys Oliynyk is a Ukrainian poet, translator, statesman, Hero of Ukraine (2005). Laureate of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize and the USSR State Prize, headed the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation. Author of over 40 books, including poems, essays and articles translated into various languages. Despite the declaration of Ukrainian independence, he remained a supporter of communist ideals and advocated close cooperation between Ukraine and Russia.
