2014, 5 min
Kyiv, February 19, 2014.
Address by former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to the people regarding the deaths of people on the Maidan, the demands of opposition leaders, protests and ways to resolve the political crisis in Ukraine.
Note: in response to the adoption of "dictatorial laws" on January 16, 2014, which restricted the rights of citizens, protesters in Kyiv began an open confrontation with the police and internal troops, in particular on Hrushevskoho Street. The bloodiest clashes took place on February 19-20. On Instytutska Street, snipers opened fire on protesters, resulting in hundreds of deaths and injuries. These events became the culmination of the Euromaidan and led to Yanukovych's resignation.
