Reference: Giya Kancheli is an outstanding Georgian composer, author of symphonic, theatrical and film music (“White Stones”, “Mimino”, “Kin-dza-dza!”). His style combines Georgian musical traditions with avant-garde and postmodernist searches, which made him one of the most important symphonists of the 20th century. He condemned Russia’s aggressive policy towards Georgia and Ukraine.
