The Omelyan Kovch Award

Laureates: Ukrainian poet and translator Moses Fishbein, Rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv Father Borys Gudziak, Deputy Minister of the Interior of Poland Tomasz Siemoniak, Head of the Rehabilitation Psychoneurological Institution Nina Hornostai.

Reference: Omelian Kovch was a Ukrainian Greek Catholic priest who saved Jews during World War II and died in the Majdanek concentration camp. The award is presented for a significant contribution to the dialogue of cultures and peoples, interreligious and interethnic understanding, and for a personal life example of sacrifice and humanism.
