Reference: Omelian Kovch was a Ukrainian Greek Catholic priest who saved Jews during World War II and died in the Majdanek concentration camp. The award is presented for a significant contribution to the dialogue of cultures and peoples, interreligious and interethnic understanding, and for a personal life example of sacrifice and humanism.
