Background: Ivan Marchuk (born May 12, 1936 in Moskalivka, Ternopil region) is a Ukrainian artist, one of the leading representatives of contemporary painting. He developed a unique style of “plein air” that combines realistic elements with abstraction. Marchuk has won numerous prizes and awards. His works are exhibited in museums and private collections around the world. In 2007, he was recognized as a “Living Classic” by Art Ukraine magazine.
