Reference: Mykola Kolessa is a Ukrainian composer, conductor and teacher, one of the founders of the modern Ukrainian conducting school. His music, in particular the "Ukrainian Suite", is distinguished by a deep national flavor and stylistic sophistication. As a conductor, Kolessa actively worked with leading orchestras and choirs, forming high standards of performing culture. The textbook "Fundamentals of Conducting Technique" became the basis for several generations of musicians. Among his students are prominent conductors who have glorified Ukrainian art far beyond the borders of the country.
