The film "Taras Melnychuk. Fate and Word" from the series "Knights of the Spirit" is dedicated to the Ukrainian dissident poet Taras Yuriyovich Melnychuk.

In an interview, Taras Melnychuk talks about his life path: about the torture he endured, the hell of Soviet camps, exile, persecution and the power of creativity.

Reference: Taras Melnychuk is a Ukrainian dissident poet, a victim of Soviet repressions and psychiatry, laureate of the Shevchenko Prize (1992) for the collection "Prince of Dew". He worked as a journalist, builder, logger, was repeatedly persecuted by the Soviet authorities for freethinking, arrested in 1972 and 1979. His poetic legacy was formed in the difficult conditions of camps, mental hospitals and censorship. In 1982, the collection "From Behind the Bars" was published in Toronto without the author's consent, and in independent Ukraine, Melnychuk's work gained recognition.
