The documentary film “Star in the Form of a Square” from the series “Kyiv Antiquity. The World of Art” is dedicated to the work of the avant-garde artist Kazimir Malevich.
The autobiography of Kazimir Malevich is told, a photo archive and fragments of the artist’s works are demonstrated. Contains a reconstruction of the futuristic opera “Victory over the Sun” performed by actors of the Stas Namin Theater.

Reference: Kazimir Malevich is a prominent Ukrainian and Russian avant-garde artist, the founder of Suprematism and a pioneer of Cubo-Futurism. Born in Kyiv to a Polish Catholic family, he was educated at various art institutions, actively participated in numerous exhibitions and taught at leading institutes. The futuristic opera "Victory over the Sun" is the avant-garde work by Mikhail Matyushin and Oleksiy Kruchenykh; during its premiere, Kazimir Malevich's "Black Square" appeared on stage for the first time, which became a symbol of abstract art.
