"Heritage": Ukrainian folk housing

The documentary film Heritage is about the protection of folk architecture monuments in Ukraine. The video shows the restoration of old wooden houses under the leadership of the Ukrainian Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments.

The film features the Prykhodko family from the village of Bubnivska Sloboda, Cherkasy region, residents of the village of Horodyshche, Chernihiv region, V. Nazarenko and S. Sytyi, and a former caretaker and guide of the house museum in the village of Moryntsi, Cherkasy region, Y. Kovbasenko.

Poems by Vasyl Symonenko, Oleksiy Tolstoy, and Taras Shevchenko are performed.

Reference: The aforementioned “Chumak's House” in the village of Moryntsi, Cherkasy region, is a sample of nineteenth-century folk architecture that represents a residential building characteristic of the Chumak way of life. The museum was founded in 1964. The goal is to preserve traditional rural housing, and the exhibits include authentic furniture, dishes, and other everyday items.
