The contest was attended by 42 countries. russia, which was supposed to participate in the contest, withdrew its application on April 13 because Yulia Samoilova, who was supposed to represent russia, was banned from entering Ukraine because of her visit to the occupied territories.
The winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 was Salvador Sobral from Portugal.
